UAR
is the professional association of Romanian architects. UAR works nationally
and through 11 local associations and 30 country chapters.
In UAR there are about 2000
members from the whole country; Has been founded under the name of Society
of Romanian Architects on 1891
Member of International Union of Architects – UIA; It has applied for ensuring the Secretariat of a Regional Program on "Education"; Affiliated as an observer to the ACE – the Architects` Council of Europe; A founder member of the ACCEE – the Architects` Council of Central and Eastern Europe; A founder member of ANUC – the National Alliance of Creators` Unions (on national level).

At this moment, there are in Romania about 3100 actively practicing architects (holding a degree equivalent practicing architecture) and 500 "conductor" (holding a degree equivalent to BA in architecture). Other 2000 fully trained architects left Romania over the past 20 years and work abroad. Now, the architects have the rights to organize themselves in small ventures or partnerships, or to practice individually.
